Desktop app
The Tunori desktop app brings your chats, agents, skills and integrations to your Mac as a window of its own that looks like the web app, with a menu bar icon and a keyboard shortcut that opens a new chat from any app. It signs in with the same account as the web and mobile apps and shows the same organizations.
Billing, organization settings and the documentation open in the web app in your browser (marked with an arrow in the sidebar), as do creating an account and resetting a password. Apps are built and opened in the web app.
It runs on Macs with Apple silicon (M1 or later) on macOS 13 (Ventura) or later. A Windows version is planned.
Installing
- Download Tunori.dmg.
- Open the disk image and drag Tunori into your Applications folder.
- Open Tunori from Applications and sign in.
The app is signed and notarized with Apple, so macOS opens it after its usual one-time confirmation for apps downloaded from the internet.
The menu bar icon
Closing the window does not quit the app: it keeps running with an icon in the menu bar, so the keyboard shortcut keeps working and the app opens again at once. The icon's menu has Open Tunori, New Chat and Quit Tunori. To quit, use that menu or press ⌘Q.
Keyboard shortcut
⌘⇧Space brings Tunori to the front on a new chat, from any app. Change or turn it off under Desktop app in the sidebar (also Tunori → Settings… or ⌘,): click Change…, press the new keys, and it applies. A shortcut another app already uses is refused and the previous one stays.
The same screen has Open at login, which starts Tunori when you sign in to your Mac.
Inside the app, ⌘N starts a new chat and Enter sends a message (Shift+Enter inserts a line break).
Appearance
Choose System, Light or Dark in the menu under your name at the bottom of the sidebar. The app remembers the choice, and its menus follow it.
Chats
Chats lists your organization chats next to the conversation, with a button for a new chat. Point at a chat to archive or delete it with the icons that appear; both happen at once, and the notification offers Undo for a moment. The archive icon in the column's header shows the archived chats. See chats.
Attachments
Drag files from the Finder onto the message box to attach them. The same limits as in the web app apply: the file types the selected model accepts and the size cap, with any file that doesn't fit named in the composer. The + button next to the model picker has Attach files (Attach images on models that only take images), which opens a file dialog whose sidebar also reaches your Photos library.
Files in chats can be downloaded to a folder you pick; previews are only in the web app.
Agents
Agents lists your organization's agents. Open one to chat with it: its chats are listed next to the conversation, with Agent Settings and Files at the top. Agent Settings works as in the web app: describe a change to the agent in the chat in the middle, or change it directly in the panel on the right (instructions, model and capabilities, integrations with their tools and triggers, schedules, max steps). Files shows the agent's file storage: upload with Upload files or by dropping files from the Finder onto the list, and download a file to a folder you pick.
When the window is narrow, hide the sidebar with the button at its top or ⌘B. While it is hidden, move the pointer to the left edge of the window to show it for a moment, or click the same button (now next to the window buttons) to bring it back.
Skills
Skills lists your organization's skills; editors create, edit and delete them there.
To use a skill, type / in the message box or in an agent's instructions, as in the web app:
pick a skill from the list (arrow keys and Return, or click) and it shows as a highlighted
/name. In a chat it is attached to that message; in the instructions the agent always uses it.
Backspace removes the whole mention. In an agent's instructions, @ mentions one of the agent's
files; in the chat of Agent Settings, @ mentions a skill for the agent to add. That chat is
in admin mode, which the striped frame around the message box and the Admin mode badge next to
the send button show.
Connecting accounts
Add integrations under Integrations (admins). For accounts you sign in to with the provider (Google, Microsoft, Slack and many MCP servers), Tunori opens the sign-in page in your browser; once you allow access, the browser hands you back to the app and the integration is connected. Cancel in the app stops waiting. The connect button an agent shows in a chat works the same way, and the chat continues once the account is connected. An integration that needs signing in again shows Reconnect in the list.
Updates
The app checks for updates after launch and every few hours, downloads them in the background and asks to restart when one is ready; otherwise the update installs the next time you quit. Tunori → Check for Updates… checks right away.
