HTTP requests

Not every service has a connector or an MCP server. The HTTP Request connector lets your agents call any web API or webhook: an admin sets up one request per integration, and agents get it as a tool called Send Request.

Setting up a request needs the Admin role. Choose Add Integration in Integrations and pick HTTP Request.

Setting up a request

  • Integration Name: what you and your agents will call it.
  • URL: the address to call. Put {{name}} placeholders in the path or query for values the agent fills in per call, for example https://api.example.com/orders/{{orderId}}. The host itself cannot be a placeholder.
  • Method: GET, POST, PUT, PATCH, DELETE, HEAD or OPTIONS.
  • Payload: the kind of body the request sends: None, JSON, Form, Text or a Custom content type. GET and HEAD requests send no body.
  • Body: optional. Write the body yourself with placeholders, for example {"name": "{{name}}"}, and the agent only fills in the placeholders. Leave it empty to let the agent write the whole body.
  • Description for the agent: what the request does and how to fill in its placeholders. The agent reads this to decide when and how to use the request, so be specific.
  • Headers: for example an Authorization header with an API key. Header values can contain placeholders too. New headers are Secret; untick it for values you want to see again when you edit the request.

The form lists the Placeholders it found. Each one becomes a value the agent must provide when it uses the request.

Secret headers

Header values are never shown to agents. A Secret header's value cannot be viewed again: when you edit the integration, leave it empty to keep the stored value. Other header values stay visible in the edit form.

What the agent gets back

The agent sees the response the service sends back. It can also save the response to its file storage, which is how it gets files such as PDFs or images.

Only services on the public internet can be called, not your own computer or private network.

Changing a request

Choose Edit in the integration's menu to change any part of the request. The change applies from the next message or run of every agent that uses it.

To give an agent the request, switch the integration on in the agent's settings, like any other integration.
